COVID-19 response from our Executive Director, Jen Knott, CTRS, ATRIC
We are here for you today and always! As our recreation centers have closed and we are all practicing social distancing, we realize our families have been left with a lack of services very abruptly. We have had to suspended vital in person services that impact the physical, social and emotional well being of our participants. With all other therapeutic services, day programs and school services suspended, this has left people with special needs isolated in their homes, without access to physical activity, social interaction and enhancement of skills they have been working on weekly. These challenges affect the mental and physical well being of people with special needs and their families greatly.
Rec2connect Foundation is here to continue to carry out our mission to connect people with special needs and their families to community recreation, wellness, and lifetime leisure skills . We have worked diligently from the beginning of this crisis to determine where we could be of the most assistance and address the needs of our participants and their families. We are providing Telehealth classes in place of our typical in person programs and have continued to grow the options our families have through this delivery model via Zoom. We are all in this together and will continue to find new and innovative ways to support people with special needs and their families.
Stay healthy and safe,
